Hawk Motorcycle Helmet Reviews? Looking to buy this brand of helmet!!?
I found a helmet that I really like on ebay and was wondering if anyone else has this kind of helmet and want to know if you like it? Or what anyone has heard about these helmets? I’d rather be safe and buy a more expensive helmet if I need to!

I would never buy a helmet without trying it on. Every manufacturer seems to make them for a particular shape of head. Last time I was shopping for a helmet I really fell in love with a Nolan, but when I put the right-sized one on it was just extremely uncomfortable. I don’t have a Nolan-shaped head.
As for whether it’s any good, it probably is. The big motorcycle magazines do articles every so often where they buy several helmets in various price ranges and send them to an independent testing laboratory. What they find is that they all protect just about as well. In fact the best, for protection alone, is usually the cheapest, made of ABS plastic. (It’s heavy, though. That’s the disadvantage.) The conclusion is that all helmets are just about as safe, but you pay more for a helmet for features and comfort.
If you buy a helmet online it might be a good idea to ask if you can return it if you don’t find it comfortable. Then when you get the helmet, you put it on and just watch TV or something. In a few days it should be ‘broken in’ enough that you can judge how comfortable it’s going to be. If you just can’t get used to it, it’s still in good enough condition to send back. Even M/C accessories stores where you can try on a helmet recommend you do this, and will let you come back and exchange it if you can’t get comfortable in it.
