Motorcycle Tach problems?
I have a 1981 yamaha exciter 250. and I bought a Sunpro (Super Tach II) tachometer and installed it today. Works very well and responds well to about 3000 rpm. especially in the fourth and fifth. Basically the motor will stop until around 3000 and then up towards the bottom, and not bounce around kind of crazy things. Tachometer does not work with magnets, and I'm pretty sure mine does not work in a magnet. In addition, it is designed for 4.6 and 8 cylinders. but I suppose that should work because they connect to the coil before it goes to the dealer or anything. ideas? Thanks!
I tried the same and does not work. Even putting in four-cylinder tachometer needs two pulses per revolution of the engine to be accurate, but the bike is the production of an electrical pulse for each revolution of the engine.
